今月開催される国際大会（台湾）に向けて若手中心の編成で合宿中のバスケットボール男子日本代表が３日、東京都北区の味の素ナショナルトレーニングセンターで練習を公開。注目は２０１７年に史上最年少の１５歳で代表に選ばれた田中力（１７）＝米・ＩＭＧアカデミー、写真＝だ。

　米国人の父と日本人の母を持つ田中は中学卒業後に渡米。身長１８７センチと大柄ではないものの、スピードが持ち味で、テニスの錦織も在籍したＩＭＧアカデミーで英才教育を受けてきた。

　２１日にはＮＢＡドラフトで親交のある八村塁（２１）がウィザーズに１巡目で指名され、「火が付きました。うまくならなきゃとスイッチが入った感じ」。今回の代表で存在感を示せば、Ｗ杯（８月・中国）や東京五輪への期待も高まる。　（平野梓）
